Stipulations for Operation Service of the Maokong Gondola System

I. Opening hours

  1. Tuesday - Thursday: 09:00 - 21:00.
  2. Friday and the day before national holidays: 09:00 - 22:00.
  3. Weekends and national holidays: 08:30 - 22:00; brought forward to 21:00 on the last day of a national holiday period or on Sunday.
  4. The Maokong Gondola is closed for regular maintenance every Monday apart from national holidays.
  5. Operating/Service hours may be adjusted due to festival events, weather or other special circumstances.

II. Service Contents

  1. Operation speed: Under normal conditions, operating speed is 2-5 m/sec.
  2. Running time: The journey from Taipei Zoo to Maokong Station takes 17- 37 minutes depending on system speed (running speed is 5 m/sec- 2 m/sec).
  3. Lost & Found services: Passengers who have lost belongings or whose children have gone missing may contact any station Information Counter or call the customer service center for help.
  4. Medical services: Passengers injured by accidents within the Maokong Gondola system may contact the Information Counter for assistance.
  5. Services for disabled visitors: Free wheelchairs, guides for visually-impaired customers.

III. Ticket Use Regulations

  1. Ticket types: Single tickets, group tickets and EasyCards.
  2. 2. Ticket use:
    A. Single tickets: Valid only on the day of issue with no refund after usage. Tickets are retrieved at exit.
    B. Discount tickets: Valid only on the day of issue with no refund after usage. Tickets are retrieved upon exit (except for local residents). Taipei citizens, children 6-12 years of age, senior citizens aged 65 and above (nationals) or foreign senior citizens who qualify for the Mackay Project, indigenous people (with household registrations in Taipei City and aged 55 and above), disabled passengers with valid disability IDs and their companions, and persons holding household registrations in Zhi-nan, Lao-quan, Zheng-da or Wan-xing villages of Wenshan District, Taipei City, are eligible for discount tickets.
    C. Group tickets: Valid only on the day of issue with no refund after usage. Tickets are retrieved upon exit. Passengers using group tickets must travel together. The discount is based on the fare of an adult ticket. There is a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more persons and a 20% discount for groups of 40 or more.
    D. EasyCard: Regulations regarding card purchases, top-ups, refunds and expiry dates are outlined in the Rules Governing EasyCard Issue and Use drawn up by the EasyCard Corporation.
    E. Other types of tickets: Please refer to the notices issued by the TRTC.
  3. Unusual conditions: Passengers can demand a refund at any gondola station within 7 days in the event of an emergency occurring on the Maokong Gondola system or temporary suspension of the system resulting in uncompleted journeys or passenger-evacuation.
