Free Battery Charging Available at all MRT Stations, Maokong Gondola, Taipei Arena, and Metro Mall
Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) announced on August 15 that free battery charging is now available at a total of 110 facilities inside the public transportation network, including MRT stations, Maokong Gondola, Taipei Arena, and Metro Mall.
The installation of charging sockets has been completed well ahead of schedule – from the end of September to early August.
According to TRTC, the company has implemented plans to set up 259 additional charging sockets above the wireless Internet connection tables, located inside each of the 110 premises since February. Since recharging service became available to passengers, the usage rate of the outlets is reported to be around 200 times per day.
TRTC pointed out that the average charging time of each “use” lasts no more than 15 minutes. This indicates that the majority of MRT passengers recognize that use is only for emergency cases and many have shown temperance when employing this service.
Noting that both 110V and USB power outlets are also available at the charging table, the company reminds travelers to bring necessary charging equipment with them when using the facility.
